In order to help you achieve your wellness goals, I pull from a variety of approaches; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy and Attachment Therapy to name a few.
Utilizing techniques from various theories allows me to have a larger tool box to pull from in order to work with you the way you would like. I believe that each individual who comes to therapy is unique and requires a treatment plan tailored to their needs. Therefore, I will not fit you into a prescribed method if it does not work for you. Therapy is, after all, about getting you what you need to be well!
Background and Experience
While I work with a variety of clients, I have speciality training in working with couples, utilizing the Gottman Method, Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy and Attachment Theory. These modalities encourage developing empathy and an understanding for one another, and tools to promote better communication. Incorporating these new skills can help to bring about a shift in the relationship, moving away from "who started it" to "how do we grow through it". You can expect to walk away with a handful of research-based tools that will allow you to communicate in new ways with one another about your needs and wants in the relationship. Additional to my couple’s work, I have an extensive 10 year history and passion for working with individuals who have experienced trauma, with a particular emphasis on intimate partner and domestic abuse.
